"As a retired high-tech professional, I battled 20kg (44 lbs) of excess weight throughout my adult life, including the dreaded 'beer belly'.
Despite my 194cm (6'4") frame distributing the weight evenly, I disliked my reflection, and I worried about how others might see me, particularly my partner.
I recognized that appearance impacts professional success; and I feared setting a poor example for my children; and my increased risk of serious health issues.

My turning point came when my blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels all began to rise. It was a sobering wake-up call.
